Meet our Director of Physical Therapy, Doctor, Physical Therapist, and Physical Therapy Assistant:
Melissa A. Doten, MPT, LMT, Director of Physical Therapy graduated magna cum laude with a Masters in Physical Therapy from American Int’l College; earned a Bachelor’s in Biology and a minor in Pre Physical Therapy at Sacred Heart University; and became certified in Massage Therapy at Connecticut Center of Massage Therapy. Employed in the physical therapy field since 2004, Melissa specializes in outpatient orthopedics: non and post-operative conditions; motor vehicle accidents, work and sports injuries; vestibular rehab; strengthening/conditioning. Melissa treats using hands-on techniques and educates on postural awareness, ergonomic/body mechanics and proper transfers. Melissa is certified in Vestibular Rehab, Graston Technique® and performing functional capacity evaluations. Her other specialities: Mulligan mobilizations, McConnell taping techniques. Melissa is a member of the APTA and the Vestibular Disorders Association. [more]
Kevin E. Sadowski, DC, Cert. MDT went into private practice in ‘99 after graduating from Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, MO. Dr. Sadowski also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Biology. He is certified in use of the AMA Guidelines of Impairment, 5th ed. and has advanced certification from the Spine Research Institute of San Diego in Whiplash Traumatology. Dr. Sadowski specializes in treating patients with non and post-operative spinal conditions, work, sports and auto-related injuries, and chronic pain using various manual therapy techniques, spinal manipulation and rehabilitative techniques. Dr. Sadowski is certified in using Graston Technique®. He is certified in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy® through the McKenzie International Group; a certification held by less than 100 chiropractors in the world. He is currently in graduate school pursing his nurse practitioner degree to be able to offer his patients a wider range of services. He is also an active member of the CT Chiropractic Association and the American Academy of Medical Legal Professionals. [more]
Jennifer L. Meier, MPT, CLT became licensed in Physical Therapy in ‘96. She holds a B.S. from University of Pittsburgh and a Master’s of Physical Therapy from Slippery Rock University. Among her work experiences are: providing therapy at a multispecialty group that offers orthopedics, physiatry and chiropractic; treating athletes of all ages, including minor league athletes; and treating patients with orthopedic conditions, motor vehicle accident and work-related injuries, pre/post-operative conditions, pain, lymphedema, and breast cancer related impairments. Jen completed specialized training, to help breast cancer patients, in scar management, shoulder/neck pain, and post-op reconstruction. She became certified for lymphedema utilizing the Casley-Smith method as well as for performing functional capacity evaluations. Jen is also trained in Mulligan mobilizations, Muscle Energy Techniques, Gary Gray, McGill rehab protocols and McKenzie approaches. Jen has spoken on many topics publicly, and has developed a community outreach program, specific to breast cancer patients, to increase awareness on scar management, lymphedema, and range of motion/strengthening exercises. Jennifer V. Cavanaugh, PTA earned an Associates degree in Physical Therapy Assistant at Springfield Technical Community College and became licensed in ‘95. She has worked in a variety of settings nationwide, including the Johnson Memorial Health Network outpatient physical therapy dept., treating patients with non/post-operative conditions, work-related and sports injuries, orthopedic injuries and chronic pain using modalities such as manual therapy, stretching/strengthening exercises, aquatic therapy. Jennifer completed specialized training in manual lymphatic drainage for treating lymphedema after breast cancer treatment. She is also trained in these manual techniques: Mulligan mobilizations, Cyriax and McKenzie approaches. Jennifer is certified in Graston Technique® as well. [more]
